Iv'e been to every one of the Summer Champs. since 1993!
you only had to ask who won and i could have directed you to the BFA website lol
you cant expect someone SOOO old to remember facts like that can you/!!!!

Our first (recorded!) Ch'ships was in 1998 - Allsorts were 6th in Div 2 Best time 22.47!!!!!!!!!
Think there were 3 divs that year.......

2001 Poss the year when the Divs were calculated on ?the best 3 tournaments.....

2003 BH 7th Div 5 18.95 BA 1st Div 6 20.70
2004 BH 2nd Div 4 18.97

This year was just unbelievable for us.......as you can see, we've never been near Div 1, so it was quite a scary experience!!

But, yes, it has grown enormously since we started!

That crossed my mind, but I think the FMD year was 2001? I'm not too sure really (as a vet student I really should know this I'll go look it up)

oh 1999 was not a good year for the BFa , the summer champs was aborted due to such problems within the committee. culminating in My husband and I calling an EGM (extraordinary general meeting)to sort out the hassle . after a team captains meeting had no effect on the behaviour of the committee members .
a sad sorry time that nearly broke the association for good, if you read the newsletter of 1998 and 1999 you will see some of the goings on , and believe me the reporting in the newsletter was diplomatic to a fault .
there are very few of the dinosaurs left and we continue to make it our business never to let the committee of the day go to that again .EVER

alsoin 1998 etc the summer champs were usually done to the double elimination format , to make them long enough to last 2 days !!!!
we would stop half way through the day if it was too warm to go swimming and then resume after tea!
the lazy hazy days of tournamnets, the judges would be decided ON THE DAY!!! who wanted to do it etc, such fun , you dont know how lucky you are these day to get such an organised, efficient, fun sport to play.

i do get peeved when some newbie members think they invented the sport and know it all , when they cant know as much as Steph and Anne and i cos they havent been doing it for 15 years have they!
sometimes a litlte recognition for our experince of the sport wouldnt go a miss.
